Phase One Clinical Trial

A Phase One Clinical Trial is the first stage of clinical trials for a new drug. Phase One trials are focused on SAFETY. They are not intended to prove that a drug WORKS, simply to prove that the drug is SAFE. Once a drug has passed Phase One trial, it can move into Phase Two testing. Phase Two testing examines the EFFICACY of the drug in treating a specific condition or symptom.
